Why is Israel so rattled by the Palestinians going to the UN for statehood recognition?

I don't know why they are so rattled either. The UN has been unable to stand up to Israel in the past and I don't suppose the USA will let that happen this time either. World opinion has turned against the Zionists but it has not turned far enough against the USA yet.
